• R: I Agree, you can be at the beach in the morning and snowboard in the afternoon!

Mild Climate:

• Compared to the rest of Canada, Vancouver enjoys a mild climate with moderate temperatures and less severe winters, making it a comfortable place to live and visit.
• R: I do not miss the 30°C-40°C summers with 90% humidity of Hong Kong!

Multicultural Diversity:

• Vancouver is a melting pot of cultures with a rich tapestry of communities from all over the world, fostering a vibrant and inclusive atmosphere.
• R: Through volunteering and networking, I’ve met and volunteer with people from multiple continents!

High Quality of Life:

• The city consistently ranks high on global livability indexes due to its excellent healthcare, education, infrastructure, and safety.
• R: This one I don’t 100% agree with. I will make a post on this a little later.

Outdoor Recreation:

• With easy access to beaches, hiking trails, ski resorts, and parks, Vancouver is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers.
• R: Plus, most outdoor activities are free!

Thriving Arts and Culture Scene:

• Vancouver boasts a dynamic arts and culture scene with numerous theaters, galleries, museums, and festivals throughout the year.
• R: It’s actually true, there are so many museums and festivals that I never knew existed or are new! The cinemas also show a lot of foreign films now too!

Culinary Excellence:

• The city’s diverse population is reflected in its food, offering a wide range of international cuisines, fresh seafood, and innovative dining experiences.
• R: Spotted prawn season is the best season..just sayin’!

Eco-Friendly Initiatives:

• Vancouver is a leader in environmental sustainability with ambitious goals to become the greenest city in the world, featuring extensive recycling programs, green buildings, and an emphasis on public transportation.
• R: Due to where I live, it was essential for me to choose a car that could use the HOV lane while riding solo. I’m not going to argue whether it should or shouldn’t be the case but EV’s are allowed. It’s one of the reasons I bought an EV and I’ve seen so many EV’s on the road. It also helps the government has the CleanBC Go Electric rebate also provides more incentive to buy EV’s. 

Strong Economy:

• The city’s economy is robust, with thriving industries in technology, film and television, tourism, and natural resources, providing ample job opportunities.
• R: This one is a negative. So many unemployed professionals in the city, myself included. I’ve talked to people with PHD’s or 15 years experience but are unable to find a job for over a year!

Educational Opportunities:

• Home to prestigious institutions like the University of British Columbia and Simon Fraser University, Vancouver offers excellent educational opportunities and research facilities.
• R: Well, I am a UBC alumni so I’m going to be biased and say, heck yes, to this one!
